I wrote this re: inline styles in emails: emails.hteumeuleu.com/should-we-stop-inlining-styles-in-emails-8c3b64f0d407 As for tables, the culpits are "The Outlooks" (on Windows from 2007 to 2019, which all uses Word's rendering engine). Most other email clients support inline-block, table-cell and sometimes even flex or grid.
